Lodgings: Sanford-Covell Villa Marina. Newport

The Sanford-Covell Villa Marina in Newport is the most dreamlike place I've ever stayed. This wasn't the first time I'd been in the house but it was the first time I ever actually got to stay over. It is the perfect mix of beautiful historic house, exquisite interior decor, and amazing waterfront views.  We rented the King room with private bathroom (it's on the 3rd floor on far right upper corner in photo below). I felt like I was going to faint from happiness when we were showed to our room. For one, it was a sunny, late August day with a high of about 75 degrees, so since our room was waterfront, all the windows were open with a perfect breeze blowing in from the bay. I gravitated toward the corner that had the window seat...obviously. Even our bathroom had waterfront views. We slept with windows wide open all night, while i hoped to hear some foghorns (my favorite noise). The next morning, we got up early, and grabbed some breakfast in the dining room downstairs. We took advantage of the heated saltwater pool before we had to (unwillingly) check out later that morning. They were kind enough to offer further use of pool and grounds after our check out time. The owner, inn keeper, and house poodle made us feel welcome and at home for our short stay :)
